Product Image Requirements by Marketplace
There is no single product-image size or rule that applies across marketplaces. Amazon Main, Etsy Listing, eBay Listing and Shopify Product differ in technical limits, presentation guidance and role-specific rules.
This comparison was checked against current platform sources on September 18, 2026.
How to read the comparison
A current platform rule for the named role or context.
Preferred guidance rather than a mandatory target.
Guidance that depends on role, category, locale, theme or placement.
A preparation setting in Product Image Batch, not marketplace certification or approval.
Quick comparison
| Marketplace role | Requirement | Recommendation / conditional guidance | Logrun preset |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Main | Product images: 500–10,000 px on the longest side. MAIN: pure white background, product fills at least 85%, no added text, logos, watermarks or promotional graphics. | Larger images support zoom/detail; current Amazon staff guidance places zoom around 1000 pxand describes 1600+ as a stronger quality target. MAIN and secondary-image rules differ; category exceptions can apply. | Amazon Main, 2000×2000. This is a Logrun preparation canvas, not an Amazon-required size or ratio. |
| Etsy Listing | Transparent PNG is not supported by current Etsy guidance. | Etsy recommends listing photos at least 2000 px in both dimensions. Files over 1 MBmay fail to finish uploading, especially on slower connections; this is a reliability warning, not a hard maximum. Thumbnail crops vary. | Etsy Listing, 2500×2000. This is a Logrun preparation canvas, not an Etsy-required exact size or ratio. |
| eBay Listing (ebay.com) | At least 500×500 px; current uploader maximum 12 MB per image; added borders, text/artwork/marketing material and watermarks are not allowed. | About 1600×1600 px is recommended. 1:1 or 16:9 generally looks best in current placements. Current facts here are scoped to the checked ebay.com EN/US listing flow. | eBay Listing, 1600×1600. The preset follows the recommendation; it is not a mandatory canvas. |
| Shopify Product | Product/collection images: up to 5000×5000 px or 25 MP; file size must be smaller than20 MB. | 2048×2048 px usually displays best for square product images. Storefront display depends on the theme, and consistent aspect ratios help side-by-side collection presentation. | Shopify Product, 2048×2048. This is recommendation-based preparation, not a required universal Shopify canvas. |
Once you have chosen the target, open Product Image Batch to prepare the files with the corresponding marketplace-oriented preset or Custom settings. Review the current platform rules and the final output before upload.
Amazon Main
Requirement. Amazon's current platform-owned guidance says product images must be 500–10,000 px on the longest side. For the MAIN image, the background should be pure white (RGB 255,255,255), the product should fill at least 85% of the frame, and added text, logos, watermarks or promotional graphics should not appear on the MAIN image.
Recommendation. The 500–10,000 px range above is the general product-image requirement. Separately, Amazon prefers larger images for zoom and detail: current staff guidance puts zoom at about 1000 px on the longest side and describes 1600+ as a stronger quality target.
Conditional. MAIN and secondary images have different rules, and category/style exceptions can exist. Uploading an image also does not guarantee that Amazon will display or select it.
Logrun preset. Amazon Main uses a 2000×2000 preparation canvas. That is a Logrun setting, not an Amazon-required canvas or aspect ratio.
Etsy Listing
Requirement. Etsy's current shop-image guidance does not support transparent PNG; transparent areas can appear black. Product Image Batch therefore does not offer transparent output for the Etsy Listing preset.
Recommendation. Etsy recommends listing photos with width and height of at least 2000 px. It also warns that images over 1 MB may not finish uploading, especially on slower connections. That warning is not a hard file-size maximum.
Conditional. Etsy uses different thumbnail and display crops, so leave enough composition margin and review the actual listing thumbnail after upload.
Logrun preset. Etsy Listing uses 2500×2000 as a preparation canvas and offers JPEG/PNG. The exact 2500×2000 size and ratio are not Etsy requirements.
eBay Listing
Requirement. In the currently checked ebay.com listing flow, images need a minimum resolution of 500×500 px, and the photo uploader accepts files up to 12 MB each. eBay's picture policy also prohibits added borders, text/artwork/marketing material and watermarks.
Recommendation. eBay recommends images around 1600×1600 px; current Help also says 1:1 or 16:9 generally looks best across listings and search placements.
Conditional. The uploader facts above are scoped to the checked ebay.com EN/US flow. Do not assume every regional eBay uploader has identical limits or presentation.
Logrun preset. eBay Listing uses 1600×1600, offers JPEG/PNG/WebP and applies the current 12,000,000-byte output ceiling. Fit can add padding that looks border-like, so review the result against eBay's current picture policy before upload.
Shopify Product
Requirement. For Shopify product and collection images, the current product-media guidance allows up to 5000×5000 px or 25 MP, and the image file must be smaller than 20 MB.
Recommendation. Shopify says 2048×2048 px usually displays best for square product images. Consistent aspect ratios can also improve side-by-side collection presentation.
Conditional. Exact storefront display depends on the online-store theme. A separate Shopify page for general image uploads uses a different 20 MP context, so the 25 MP boundary here applies only to the product/collection-image context.
Logrun preset. Shopify Product uses 2048×2048, offers JPEG/PNG/WebP and applies the current product-image file-size boundary for this preset. The preset does not guarantee final theme rendering.
What a Logrun preset means
A marketplace preset applies a bounded preparation target inside Product Image Batch. It does not certify that an image satisfies every current marketplace rule, category exception, content policy or moderation decision.
After choosing a marketplace target, still review the current platform source and the final image before upload.
Fit and Fill after you choose a target
Fit keeps the whole decoded source frame visible inside the target canvas. Padding can appear when the aspect ratios differ.
Fill fills the target canvas with a centered crop. Source edges can be cropped.
These are geometry controls, not marketplace policy engines. On Amazon MAIN, Fit padding can reduce the product's relative fill; Etsy can crop thumbnails after upload; Fit padding can look border-like on eBay; and Shopify theme rendering can change the final presentation.
Prepare the batch after choosing the target
Use Product Image Batch to prepare a batch with the corresponding marketplace-oriented preset or Custom settings. Review the current platform rules and the final output before upload.
